A Morning of Reflection: Honoring Our Veterans

This morning’s bike ride felt different.

As I pedaled along my usual route, I noticed a single bird dressed in pure white, quietly watching over the calm water. The current was still, the wind gentle, the hills steady, and the city unusually quiet. There was a sense of peace in the air—one that felt earned.

That moment made me pause. The bird’s white “uniform” reminded me of the thousands of men and women who wear a different kind of uniform every day—those who have served and continue to serve our country.

Today, on 11/11—Veterans Day, I’m reminded that the peace of a quiet morning is a privilege made possible by others’ courage and sacrifice. While we go about our daily routines, there are those who once stood watch—alone, steadfast, and committed—to ensure we could live freely and safely.

To all the veterans who have served, and to the families who supported them: thank you.

Your dedication, sacrifice, and sense of duty embody the true meaning of selfless service. You remind us what it means to stand for something greater than ourselves.

Because of you, I get to enjoy peaceful mornings, the freedom to choose my path, and the safety to live with purpose.

Today and every day, we honor your service and your legacy.
